Olushola Adeoye, CEO and co-founder at Sellport, stated that the creation of Sellport as an online retail presence platform built fifty times faster than traditional ways of selling just anything, started, as a result of his travel experience, while he was in Dubai, a few years ago. Like other foreigners, new to a different locality, he also faced the dilemma of not knowing the best restaurant to visit for a nice meal.
Olushola realized that getting African food in the diaspora would be tough. Since he wasn’t conversant with that region, people of that locale couldn’t pay the onboarding fees to get on some of the aggregator applications in the market.
The thought of building a SAAS tool that would allows just anyone to build an online market set in. It was right there, at the spot, he knew he had to take it back to Africa.
Olushola shared the thought with his team, and other ideas were born. Like a good seed, the idea grew and became what the team called “Shopify for Africa”, SELLPORT! A marketplace where anyone can sell.
